Hi Rick!

I want to wish you a very happy birthday.
I hope you have a wonderful day with the ones you love!

Thank you for postponing your 'retirement.' I will miss you when you finally decide to leave the world of Stargate behind you, but I understand your need to spend more time with Wylie and your devotion to your projects. And remember... enjoy everything you do (I'm sure you will) and make the best of it!

Hope your birthday is terrific, just like you!

Happy Birthday! And many, many more. Thank you for so many wonderful moments on TV. Thank you for "Nicodemus Legend" and his wonderful adventures. Thank you for "MacGyver" and for showing how fun being intelligent can be. Thank you for "Jack O'Neill" and his wonderful sense of humor. But mostly, thank you for you and your talent. Am I gushing too much? Sorry. But I do mean every word. I hope you and your daughter have a great day.

Happy Birthday, Rick! I hope you have a wonderful day with family and friends. Thank you for all the fine work you've provided over the years. I've enjoyed MacGyver, the celebrity hockey games (I will never be that graceful on skates! I'm so envious! LOL!), and SG1. And thank you for your environmental work; this planet needs all the help it can get. May all your dreams come true!

Once again it is time to THANK YOU for all the years of joy and pleasure you have brought me and my girls. Thanks for waiting the extra year and for going the extra mile. I have been a fan since General Hospital and all 3 of my girls love MacGyver and Stargate... My four year old is a big fan and can pick out Mac or Jack out of anything we watch... Thanks again and from the bottom of our hearts we salute and thank you...

Happy Birthday Rick,

I probably feel as awkward writing this as you do receiving it.

I just wanted to wish you Happy Birthday, and thank you for the years you've given your fans... from Dr. Jeff to Col. O'Neill. We've been honored and lucky to have you as long as we have.

Selfishly I'm pleased you decided to delay total retirement, however as a mother and child care provider I understand and agree wholeheartedly with your decision to spend more time with your daughter... she is definitely the most important one to consider here.

You send a great message to a great many people with your devotion to her and your many causes.

Thanks and Happy Birthday again,

Dear Rick,

Happy 53rd Birthday. As a contemporary of yours (actually a little older), I feel comfortable addressing you by what I understand is your preferred nickname.

I have been a fan since your MacGyver days and am jealous of my own daughter because she had the opportunity to meet you when she was in the D.A.R.E. program at her middle school and you came to speak to the children.

If I had known in advance that you were going to be there, I would have taken the day off work just to have the chance to shake your hand and tell you how much I appreciated someone of your celebrity coming to a local school to inspire and encourage children to say no to drugs.

I am a fan of the original Stargate movie. Then I heard there was going to be a TV series based on the movie. Since there have been very few TV series based on movies that I have liked , I was prepared to not like it. Then I found out that you were the star, so I watched the premiere episode on Showtime with an open mind. I'm very glad I did . I have not missed a single episode, and have enjoyed every one of them. I now consider every one of the SG-1 team family.

I am looking forward to the rest of Season 6 and a whole new Season 7. As a fan, I am pleased that you have decided to delay your retirement for an additional year. As a parent, I understand the difficulty involved in making that decision. Wylie is a cutie and I hope you take all the time you need and want to enjoy her at every step of her growing up. When I would find myself wishing my daughter was walking or talking or doing whatever, my mother would tell me to stop wishing her life away. She told me to enjoy her now, as she is, doing what she's doing. She was right, my daughter is now 24 and I find myself reminiscing about her baby and childhood and being grateful for being with her as much as I possibly could.

Once again, have a wonderful birthday!

Dear Richard,

Happy Birthday 2003... hope you have many more! I have been a fan since MacGyver. Loved it as well as Legend, Stargate, and the many TV movies.

Here are a few virtual birthday gifts, since I can't send the real ones to you!

Have a great day!!!

Love ya,

Dear Richard,

Thank you so very much for all the work you have done. I have been a fan of yours since I was a teen watching MacGyver every week with my whole family, all 9 of us if you can imagine that. Now that I have a family of my own we, my two boys and I, watch Stargate SG-1 every week together. My oldest thinks your name is Jack regardless of where he sees your picture. I think he's about a year older than Wylie, she must bring such joy to your life. I hope you are able to cherish all the time spent with her as I bet she is growing so fast.

I hope you have a great birthday and are able to spend it with family and loved ones.

I look forward to the rest of the Stargate series and the rumored movie, I can't wait.

Thanks again for the enjoyment you bring into my home as well as countless others.

Dear Richard,

I wish you a happy birthday and all the best for the next year. BTW, it's also my little cousin's birthday, today.

I have to tell you, that I really like you, since I was a child watching MacGyver. And now I love you in Stargate SG-1. I hope, we'll see a lot more in the future!

Best wishes to you and Wylie!

Dear Richard,

Happy birthday and a joyful and healthy new year!

Rick, when I think back on your career, one favorite memory has to the 5th & 6th season eps. of MacGyver, "Serenity" & "MacGyver's Women."

Firstly because they were filmed in my back yard, & secondly they depicted the Old West lifestyle I, to this day, hold dear to my heart:

Family is everything!

For these reasons, this is my birthday wish to you:

It's not a matter of the years a man has been around, or the trail in life he chose to take... but it's the things he does for everyone that makes a man so great!

Happy Birthday,

Cowtown, Canada

I just wanted to wish my favorite actor of all time a very Happy Birthday! I hope that your birthday is blessed with joy, love, laughter and lots of gifts. I also wanted to thank you for all the years of enjoyment, from General Hospital down to Stargate SG-1, you have given me.

God Bless You!

Dear Rick,

I'm writing to you all the way from New Zealand, to wish you a Happy Birthday, and best wishes for another great year!

You've been someone I've admired for quite a long time, and it's been nice to know that you seem such a nice person as well, not just a great actor (and a very funny person too)!

You're wonderful on SG-1! I'm looking forward to the new season, and hope you have a great time filming it. Hope there's lots more laughs thrown into the mix of the show. As Amanda Tapping has been quoted as saying: "My belief is that when people are laughing their minds are more open." I totally believe that, and think you've shown that too by bringing your original sense of humour to the show!

Thanks for being a great role model too (hope it's not too much of a pressure). Your love and respect for the environment, animals, and of course people, is something we need more of!

Oh well, hope your birthday is enjoyable, and spent with those you love, and who love you just as much!

And hey, you really should check out New Zealand someday!!! With your love of the outdoors, I'm sure you'd love it! Just ask Teryl, Don and Amanda!

Okay, I'm outta here!

Love, hugs, smiles and prayers,

Beth Manning

Dear Richard,

I just want to take this opportunity to not only wish you a very Happy Birthday (from one Aquarian to another!) but to also wish you and your family a very Happy New Year for 2003. I also want to say a BIG thank you for agreeing to do a 7th season of Stargate. I really do love the show and was fortunate enough to meet some of the actors and 'behind the scenes' personalities at Blackpool in October 2002. What fabulous people you work with, it must be more like going to play than work!

Take Care and All the Best.

Fondest Regards,

My dear Richard,

I'm really happy to be able to send you my best for this New Year and your birthday. You're a real model to me for so many years now! Even without knowing, you have given me so much just by being on screen with your great talent and your wonderful smile! January is the month of "our" birthday too because I discovered you on TV here in France in January, 1987 in the pilot for MacGyver. So I kind of live with you for 16 years now! I'll be 29 in June and I was only 13 when you became my hero! Thanks again for all you do and everything you are, you're a precious human being. And thanks for not being a selfish star, for being so aware of the world around you. It's absolutely necessary to have a guide like you. Please keep on being YOU!

About Stargate SG-1, what can I say but THANK YOU SO MUCH for the seventh season! I'm totally addicted to the show and I would have been sorry to say goodbye to Jack and his team. You're the best actor on the face of the Earth, that you defend so well!! In fiction and in reality!

Please give a kiss to Wylie for me. As I work in a school, I love kids and your princess is so beautiful! I'm sure she is aware of the great dad she has.

Thank you again for everything and I hope my English is not too bad. I'm like you, I hate grammar errors, so if I have made one, please LET ME KNOW IN PERSON!!

All my love and affection to you,

Carine Collinet
Beauvais, France

Hope you have a wonderful birthday, and a great 2003!!

What do you say to someone whom you have never met, but feel like you have known your whole life?? I grew up watching MacGyver and in my teen years it seemed to be the only thing that my dad and I could do together with out arguing. I continue to watch MacGyver quite often and I am eagerly anticipating its arrival on DVD. The Stargate SG-1 series is very funny and fascinating too. However, I am a MacGyver fan through and through... This may sound very strange, but years ago, I had an exact replica made of the hockey jersey that you had on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The one you wore as the honorary caption of Team USA. I guess you could say that I have a unique collectible. Anyway, now that I have made a complete idiot of myself I guess I will go and let you get on with other things. Congratulations on all your accomplishments and I hope that you have a very special birthday!

What can I say? Some say things get better with age and they must have been talking about you!! Having watched your career for the longest time, I came to know you from your "soap opera" days... Even at that time, you were great and still gorgeous... Thanks for making every day of my life a little more exciting and have a great and stupendous birthday for yourself... Like fine wine, only a few things do get better with time... Looking forward to more of your smiling face on the tube for days (and years) to come. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I have to say that I have been a fan since your MacGyver years and still continue to watch the old shows when they come up in reruns. I have most of them on VHS tape and understand that they may be coming out on DVD. I will purchase those because I enjoy watching the shows so much and the VHS tapes are pretty worn. I also enjoy watching your new series, Stargate.

I wish you the happiest of birthdays and a very prosperous 2003.

Happy Birthday! Fifteen years and three children later and we all still love watching MacGyver and Stargate - even my daughter Emma who was born the same time as Wylie! You should be proud to know that you and your programmes make so many people of all different ages and nationalities so happy!!

Dear Richard:

Thanks for all the great work that you have done!! I have been a fan since I was in my teens. I remember watching MacGyver with my Oma (she thought that you were good too!!). When Stargate first aired that was even better. I watch that show faithfully every week!! Keep up the good work!!! Have a great Birthday and Happy New Year!!
