Enigma of the Anna Rose She summoned him to take a different road, which was only his journey to behold. He had not known who she was, his destiny was her call. Each day he traveled this visceral path to seek what she tried to say. To understand the treasured road, he journeyed each curve with a fresh exciting awe. It was on this path he found one flower he called his Anna Rose. She seemed to smile and come to life each time he did pass by. Mystified by this life, his eyes wondered what her spirit had been trying to say. Her mystic essence beckoned him to stay, though each visit he did leave the flower at bay. The forlorn nights he lay, restive until his thoughts turned to the bouquet of his Anna Rose which always lured him away. What was it about the Anna Rose? It started to consume his day. The daily abstractions of people and situations grew relentlessly in his way. One day along the path he decided to seek the haunting of the rose. Why he was besieged with her beauty, it now was his new quest to unfold. The esoteric journey to begin this day would be profound it is own way. For he knew he could not find his inner peace until he saw the soul of his Anna Rose. The woe inflicted of his first encountered thorn, his chivalry shrugged off. For he was too fervent with his quest to have the spikes impinge him. The whetted thorns did begin the torment along his ascent. He could not shun them from his path. One by one th ripped through his dignity exposing the vulnerable man. Could his self-esteem be a true pretentious guise or merely a way to fill his empty heart? He found to his dismay, each thorn spurned the emotions that freshly pierced his poignant wounds. Ascending up the stem, tired and weary he succumbed. This journey has taken a life time, a pause was indeed in need. He questioned his painful journey as forsaken as it turned to be. Shadowed by her crown of petal, he rested on her verdant bough. A glance up to his Anna Rose the wounds began to cure. Her radiance was unfolding, her serenity he did claim. She summoned his arousal as her breezy crisp breath brushed his mane. So beautiful has she bloomed, her feathers spread across the sky. The first born thorn had called to him. The last wound to open before he could finally see Anna Rose. Was it there to shred his soul or pure his thirsty heart? Could that last thorn be the sharpest of them all or has time dampened its natural gift? It did not matter he had come so far to answer the recondite of the rose. Finally about to meet his rose, her beauty was to behold. Timidly he greeted her yet his inner was eager to meet her. His eyes overwhelmed by her many tiers; he chose to explore one petal at a time. He started with her beginning, the outer petals so broad. In sorrowed dread he noticed they began to lose their shimmer, and her edges rippled with signs of wither. She no longer was the perfect flower and a lament he could not figure. He began to ponder the epoch of this journey. And it was the sincerity of Anna Rose that helped expose his past haughty life and stripped him to his soul. Petal by petal her virtue unfolded, hiding her youth deep inside her. He began to realize that the fulfillment of the rose he sought was innate within her heart. He truly did uncover her beauty, a virtuosity he had not. The perfect imperfection was really what he had sought. She wrapped her splendor around his soul, never to part. Enjoy!

Dear Richard, Happy Birthday! Hope your birthday and the coming year bring to you all your wishes and dreams. Although Stargate won't be the same without you I can understand the need to spend more time with your daughter Wylie. They grow so quickly and we can never regain the moments we lose with them. My own daughter will graduate high school this June and it seems like only yesterday she was this tiny baby I was holding in my arms. It has just been she and I since she was 3 and we are incredibly close. This is a tough time, you want them to excel and do great things with their life, but it's hard to let go. By the way McGyver was the first TV show she really paid attention to. She would get all excited and say "go 'Gyver go," when you were in trouble! SO, the long and short of this is, enjoy the time you have with Wylie. Because all too soon she will be a grown up young woman ... and you'll be saying ... hmmm ... where'd that time go? Then we wonder why we have gray hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) I have enjoyed your work from McGyver to Gen. O'Neill and hope that you won't be a stranger from in front of the camera forever. We'd miss your smiling face way too much! And those cute dimples! Please stay in touch with us fans and let us know how you are doing ... and how life is "after Stargate!" All my best, Love,
Cheryl Higginson |

Take care of you and happy birthday. Thanks.

Richard, Happy Birthday!! I want to thank you for your work not only in television and movies but charitable projects dear to your heart. Your decency and quality of your work gives me something to watch and enjoy without all the filth we see everyday. Keep up the good work. Thank you again. Your friend always,
Richard Daniel Gribble |

I think your characterization of Colonel O'Neill is just perfect. It's hard to act the hero. "Look at me, I'm so wonderful!" Kirk Douglas wrote that when he and Burt Lancaster were acting in "Gunfight at the OK Corral," in the scene when they faced off a mob with one gun each, they got to laughing so hard that they had to be sent home. Please don't go home! Give yourself a rest. It must be hard to work on the same project for so many years, but many people love that character. Just show up once in a while to keep fans from going into withdrawal. I'm sure the new characters will be fine -- but it still won't be you. I have to say that you look great for 55! I hope you feel as well as you look. Happy Birthday!

Rick, Happy Birthday and Many More! From Dr. Jeff to Gen. Jack, it's been enoyable watching you all these years! Thank you for great entertainment. I'm such a fan... I also admire your desire to spend more time with your family because it's so important. Of course, I'll miss seeing "Jack" and his 'attitude' (it always makes me laugh). Along our journey here, we touch many lives as they touch ours, in the smallest ways and with the littlest moments that can be the most wonderful things in life. I hope your future journey overflows with new and wonderful moments! A long-time fan!

You paint with your emotions on the canvas of your face, hands and body. And while your words are often few, your eyes speak volumes. Thank you for sharing yourself through the art of an actor - for so beautifully expressing the thoughts and feelings that touch hearts in every corner of the world. Happy Birthday!

My husband is a Staff Sergeant in the Army currently stationed in Iraq. Both of us loved MacGyver (my husband's soldiers refer to him as MacGyver for his ability to fix anything with nothing) and equally love Stargate SG-1. We have all seven seasons on disc. Unfortunately, we did not have the opportunity to watch Legend as we were stationed in Germany during that time. We would both like to wish you a very happy 55th birthday and send best wishes to you and to Wylie. Whether in retirement or working full time, may you continue to be an inspiration to your daughter and a role model for the rest of the world. Sincerely,
SSG & Mrs. David (Connie) Randall |
Dear Richard, First I want to say thank you for all the hard work and effort you have put into the great sci-fi show Stargate SG-1. I started watching it because I had seen what a great actor you were in MacGyver, and you are still one of the best actors around. You deserve the best birthday anyone could ever have and I hope you get what you truthfully deserve on this wonderful day. You are a great person and a great actor. I wish you a Happy Birthday and all the happiness and success in the world!! You are an amazing gentleman of many talents - son, brother, activist, star, producer, friend and most of all a devoted father. My special wish for you is that you enjoy every waking moment with your special girl, Wylie. Take Care and please give a big hug and kiss to Wyile. Happy Birthday!!!! Take Care,

Just wanted to wish you a very happy birthday. I have enjoyed watching you since 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. I was even able to use a trick I saw on MacGyver at our local community theater during a show. Thanks so much for the work you and everyone else does on the shows. Blessings to you and your loved ones and again have a happy birthday.

Hi ~ Happy Birthday! I thought you'd like a smile, so I put together a little list of *theme* songs: Apophis: Cold Hearted Snake ~ Janet Jackson And for YOU: Hero ~ Whitney Houston {considering all the globally beneficial causes you support} I've also paid for a "Flock of Hope" at heifer.org in your honor. It's an organization that gives animals {and more} to needy people and teaches them how to improve their lives from raising them; eventually freeing them from poverty. I hope that your day is one you can remember forever in a blissful way!

Dear Mr. Anderson, I wish you a very Happy Birthday. We will miss you on Stargate SG-1 but hope you treasure your time with Wylie. She is so precious. I hope you don't completely disappear from the small screen. You are true to the characters you play. They show what kind of man you really are. May God bless you and keep you and your family safe from harm.

Dear Richard, Happy birthday! It’s very clever of you, you know, to arrange your filming schedule so you are always free for your birthday. I think your website is excellent. Kate does a wonderful job of putting on new items and keeping it fresh. I especially love to hear about your promotion of nature conservation as that’s my work/passion. I am visiting the Galapagos later this year, after trekking in Ecuador. Can’t wait to be there. It’s brilliant that we can soon buy the later series of MacGyver on DVD. About time too! With best wishes,

Hi Rick, Happy Birthday! Hope you enjoy a great day and thank you very much for Jack O'Neill. SG-1 Rules! I'd like to share an anecdote with you. I was on holiday in Vancouver last May, my sister in law, 3 year old niece and I were walking down Denman Street looking to hire bicycles, when we looked up to see you smiling at us! You were sitting in the back of a car with the window rolled down, it was a glorious day, my niece was refusing to hold our hands at the time and we were smiling as well! Vancouver is a beautiful city. We also stayed with relatives in Kamloops, in fact my cousin Clare Harrington was in school with Michael Shanks! Talk about a small world! Anyway, I hope you have a fantastic birthday and I wish you every success for 2005. You sure don't look 55! p.s. Go Canucks Go! If the NHL hockey season ever starts..... Oh the Wild are o.k. too......

Dear Rick - I’m glad that I get a chance to share my Birthday wishes with you. I hope you have a relaxing and enjoyable day with your friends, family, and most importantly your beautiful daughter. I too share January as my Birthday month and will share the day with my loved ones. I wanted to thank you for sharing so much of yourself with us, your fans. We appreciate that you sacrifice your time and privacy to entertain and share your life with us. Personally, I owe you a huge thank you for being one of my inspirations. Without you in my midst I would not have been moved to start writing my first novel. It was your image, your thrilling characters, and your charming and sarcastic Jack O’Neill wit that spurred my first story idea. It has even led me to be adventurous enough to begin writing a Stargate SG-1 novel and send in a proposal, my first attempt at the publishing world. From the bottom of my heart I say thanks. Not just for being a positive influence in my life but for also reminding me that no matter who we are, and possibly without our knowledge, people are looking at us, watching us, and finding role models and inspiration. I hope to continue seeing you on screen as O’Neill but I understand only you can know what’s right for you and your family. With that being said SG-1 could never be the same without you but I wish you continued success in whatever you may undertake. Thanks for making a difference in my life. Love Ya Always,
Angela Smith :) |

Thank you for everything. Wish you a wonderful 55th birthday! And if you will have visit the Heart of Europe in future I would like to show you to the authentic Bohemian beer. :) KRÁSNÉ NAROZENINY!!! Hi, Richard... Happy Birthday to a fellow aquarian. My birthday is January 30th. I can't believe I'm doing this, I have never even considered e-mailing a star before. But I want you to know how much I have enjoyed watching you over the years. You are a very gifted actor, whether you think so or not. I do hope that you will sign for season 9 on Stargate SG-1, even if only part-time. The show would not be the same without Jack O'Neill and his sense of humor. But I do commend you for wanting to put your family first. That is so rare to see in this day and age, especially in the acting business. Wylie is such a beautiful little girl and so lucky to have you for a father. You must have wonderful parents yourself to instill such values. Thank you also for all the wonderful charity work you do. I wish I had the means to financially support all of your charities. Thank you for being you and not snubbing your fans like many actors do. Have a great 55th birthday and many, many more to come. The best to you in the future, no matter what path you follow. A staunch fan, even though my mother will walk in when I'm watching Stargate and ask "How can you watch that stuff?"
Becky McLachlan |
|
Rick, On your birthday, I'd like to take the opportunity to say thank you. Thank you for giving us characters who make us feel - happy, sad, scared, safe - emotions running the full gambit. Thank you for bringing heroes into our homes, especially when heroes are in such short supply. Thanks for sharing your adventures and travels around the world - going places to which some can only dream. And thank you for sharing your love of our planet, showing your true inner spirit. Thank you for being a loving, caring parent - showing by example not only are wonderful role models out there, but good guys as well. The total love between you and your daughter is an absolute joy to behold. May the love you feel for each other grow one hundredfold each year. For your birthday, I give you three thoughts: "The face of the wise man is not somber or austere, contracted by anxiety and sorrow, but precisely the opposite: radiant and serene, and filled with a vast delight, which often makes him the most playful of men." Philo "I've learned that one good turn gets most of the blanket." Maxine "Another birthday? D'oh!" ......Homer....... Happy Birthday! Let my gift to you be this wish. I wish for you a long journey. Stay healthy, be happy and may love continue to come your way. (Darn it all if Thomas Wolfe still isn't right..........)

Happy Birthday, Richard! What can I say that has not already been said about your great talent, achievements, generosity and loyalty? You have indeed earned the love, gratitude and honors bestowed upon you over the years. Now, the time has come for you to reap your rewards, which, first and foremost, means spending a lot of quality time with Wylie, your little angel. I wish you both much happiness, fun, excitement, and the joy of exploring nature's wonders together. You and I have never met but from all I have been told by those who have had the pleasure and the privilege of knowing you personally, and from the way your personality shines through when you are interviewed, I have come to regard you as a friend... I hope you will forgive the liberty. I will miss seeing you every week on SG-1, and as soon as Jack O'Neill fades into the distance, I will cease to watch the show. It is sad to see the changes that have already been made in the cast. The chemistry that once existed was pure magic. But time marches on. Thank goodness for the SG-1 and MacGyver DVD's! Good luck. God bless.

Rick, Hi!! Please bear with me as this is the first time that I have ever done this. I also want to wish you a very Happy Birthday and hope that you get all you want and spend your special day with the ones you love the most, especially Wylie. She is blessed to have a father like you who cares so much for her (+ she looks a lot like you). If you are ever in NW Arkansas or I get to Califonia again I would love to meet you and get an autograph from you (somehow). Again, Happy Birthday to you & hugs, kisses & love from me and my family to you and Wylie. I also send all my love to you. (sigh) P.S. Congrats on your wins in Banff this year. ~~ Love,

Happy birthday Mr. Anderson. My family loves to watch your shows. My son thinks you are the greatest. (He's 13 and autistic, and you make him laugh a lot.. thank you for that.) Hope you enjoy your birthday and get to spend it with your family. (I get the impression most everyone who signed this is a teenager, I'm a BIT beyond that... so I'm not going to confess my undying love for you as some have... but I will say you are an incredible actor - love the humor you bring to SG-1 and brought to MacGyver.)
Happy birthday again. JJ |
