The Goa'uld Telchak was probably known on Earth as Chac, the Mayan god of rain. Thousands of years ago he found the reanimation device, originally created by the Ancients, and attempted to harness its life-giving energy. The device was probably the basis of the Fountain of Youth mythology attributed to early Mayan tribes around 900 BC. Although its primary purpose was to heal, the device was too powerful and ultimately had devastating effects on human hosts. However, Telchak was able to modify its technology to create the first sarcophagus. Long before Anubis attempted to ascend, he went to war with Telchak for possession of the reanimation device. Telchak was defeated, but Anubis never acquired the device. It remained hidden for thousands of years in one of Telchak's many temples in Central America until Daniel and Dr. Lee recovered it from the buried temple ruins in the jungles south of Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
