Richard was on hand in Vancouver to celebrate the filming of the 200th episode of Stargate SG-1. Now in its 10th season, Stargate is the longest running science fiction series ever produced in North America, and its 202nd episode will officially push it past the record previously held by The X-Files. To celebrate the achievement, cast and crew took time out from filming the milestone episode to meet with the press and enjoy a stargate-shaped cake.
Richard welcomed the opportunity to reprise the role of Jack O'Neill in the 200th episode, saying, "I wouldn't miss that. I wasn't doing anything, and I kind of missed people up here. It's really good." Producer Brad Wright said of the returning star, "It's been a lot of fun to see him again. He was so much the face of SG-1 for so many years. For the 200th episode there was just no way we could even consider doing it without bringing him back." The 200th episode of Stargate, currently titled "200" is scheduled to air on August 18th.
In addition to the print media invited to the set for the occasion, the 200th episode celebration was also broadcast on the CTV evening news, Space Channel's "Hypaspace" and "ET Canada."
