Oz Comic-Con in Perth
March 8-10, 2013

During his visit to Australia, Richard spent time in Perth, Adelaide, and Melbourne. Link to these visits above.

Richard Dean Anderson traveled to Australia for Oz Comic-Con on March 9th and 10th. Held at the Perth Exhibition Centre in Perth, Australia, the convention included many personalities from the world of science fiction, including William Shatner, Teryl Rothery, Jason Mamoa, and Colin Ferguson. Fans attending the convention had the opportunity to attend celebrity panels as well as to obtain photos and autographs of their favorite stars. During his visit Down Under, Richard also participated in a number of media interviews.

Richard left for Australia on March 4th. The day before his departure, he sent an email, sharing his anticipation for his return to the southern hemisphere:

I'm heading down under. Down under what, you might ask. Well, I got no answer to that. Just.......that's where I'm headed.

It's been a couple of years and I will be honest: I've missed being in the southern hemisphere, so I am looking forward to getting there.... Actually, I look forward to BEING there more than I am GETTING there. 14-16 hour flight? Oy. OY!!, I say.

Richard had a few days to adjust to the new hemisphere and time zone, then on Friday, March 8th, he began a media blitz of interviews via radio, television, and print. Some of these interviews are linked below:

On Saturday, March 9th, as Comic-Con got under way, Richard showed his support at the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society booth. During the convention, Sea Shepherd raised over $10,000 for the protection of oceans and marine life.


During the weekend, Richard met and spoke with fans. There was a Meet and Greet event on Saturday evening, and he spoke at two different panels on Saturday and Sunday. He also posed for pictures with fans, and signed autographs.

Following the convention, Richard had a few days to be a tourist before heading for Oz Comic-Con in Adelaide the following weekend. On Tuesday, March 12th, Richard visited the Caversham Wildlife Park near Perth.

On Wednesday, March 13th, Richard spent the day with fellow Sea Shepherd supporters from Sea Shepherd Australia as they visited Kings Park, Cottesloe Beach, and the home of Jeff Hansen, Director of Sea Shepherd Australia.
