During his visit to Australia for Oz Comic-Con, Richard participated in a number of promotional interviews. Among them was an audio interview for 612 ABC Radio with Patrick Williams. Richard shared his impressions of Brisbane and his enjoyment of people-watching at conventions. He also talked about his interest in conservation since childhood and his support of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, which his convention appearances help to fund.
