RALPH

Ralph was one of several bodyguards of Charles "Papa Chuck" Banning of the Banning crime family. Michael Simmons, who had cooperated with Banning in the sale of information to the East Germans, made the decision to betray those clients, and Banning sought retribution for the double-cross by ordering that Simmons be killed. Banning called Jimmy Kendall, a former hitman within his organization, out of retirement and ordered him to take out the contract on Simmons.

Ralph cooperated with Jimmy's plan to find and kill Simmons, but he owed no loyalty to Jimmy and sought to improve his own standing within Banning's organization. He participated in Jimmy's staged ambush of MacGyver that was designed to allow Jimmy to build MacGyver's trust, and he reluctantly agreed to wait for MacGyver to do the legwork in tracking Simmons. It was his preference to kill MacGyver once Simmons was found, but Jimmy refused to allow it.

Instead, Ralph accompanied Jimmy to carry out the hit, and he was able to overhear the conversation in which MacGyver persuaded Jimmy to let Simmon go to be turned over to the authorities. Ralph reported back to Banning that the contract had not been carried out, and in response, Banning gave the order for Ralph to eliminate both Jimmy and Simmons.

Ralph and two other bodyguards found MacGyver and Jimmy at a baseball field and pursued them to a balloon factory. There, using mirrors, fake blood, and sound effects, MacGyver created an optical illusion to fool Ralph into believing that he had succeeded in killing Jimmy.

When Ralph returned to Banning to report that the contract had been successfully completed, Banning instructed him to send a flower arrangement to the funeral, and he rewarded him with the right to call him "Papa Chuck," thus moving him up within Banning's organization.
