KATEP

Katep

Katep and his brother Salatis lived in Egypt in 3000 BC. They were on a pilgrimage to the Temple of Ra to make an offering when they encountered SG-1, who had used the Ancient time travel device to journey back in time. Believing them to be travelers from the east, Katep offered to put the team up for the night and invited them to join the public audience at the temple. Ra was displeased with the offering, however, and ordered the death of Salatis, who was shot by Ra's Jaffa.

When SG-1 became trapped in the past, they maintained contact with Katep, who learned from them to speak English, and who helped them to plot an uprising against Ra. O'Neill, Carter, and Teal'c were killed before the plan could be carried out, but Katep and Daniel continued to gather weapons and to raise troops. Together they led a successful rebellion and Ra abandoned Earth, taking the stargate with him. However, in an alternate timeline, O'Neill, Carter, and Teal'c returned to ancient Egypt, and together with Daniel and Katep they organized the uprising in 2995 BC which ended the reign of the Goa'uld on Earth and buried the stargate, just as history had intended.
