Kayla is the younger of General Hammond's two young granddaughters, and she and her older sister Tessa are very close to their grandfather. Kayla called the General at his office to report that she had lost another tooth, and the girls remain #1 on his office speed dial, ahead of the President. When the NID had threatened consequences against his grandchildren, Hammond was pressured into resigning from the SGC until O'Neill restored his command by gathering evidence against Kinsey and the NID.
