Richard had returned to Los Angeles for the seventh season of MacGyver, and he appeared on the Arsenio Hall Show to promote the new season. He talked about his childhood and early travels and adventures, he described how he first got the role of MacGyver, and he shared his pride in the atypical TV hero. He also promised that MacGyver's first name will finally be revealed in the seventh season. Turning to the young people in Arsenio's audience, he joined Arsenio in urging them to stay away from drugs.
