MRS. CHUNG

Mrs. Chung

Mrs. Chung worked for the DXS decoding encrypted intelligence. She had a widely respected reputation, and Pete Thornton claimed she was the best cryptanalyst alive, although she modestly insisted that she "just solves puzzles."

When MacGyver returned from a mission to East Berlin, he brought back a highly sensitive encoded microfilm. MacGyver, Pete Thornton, Karen Blake, and Mrs. Chung met at a DXS safe house where computer resources had been set up for Mrs. Chung to decode the information on the microfilm. However, Quayle, a foreign agent with a grudge against MacGyver and a mission to retrieve the microfilm, had installed booby-traps throughout the house in a scheme to prevent the information from reaching American intelligence.

As Mrs. Chung prepared to activate her computer, Quayle remotely triggered a short circuit that caused it to explode, and as windows and doors automatically slammed shut and locked, Mrs. Chung reached for a doorknob and was pricked by a needle protruding from the knob. The needle administered a strong sedative and Mrs. Chung passed out, but she was otherwise unharmed. She was made comfortable on the sofa as MacGyver, Thornton, and Karen Blake sought ways to defeat Quayle. As Quayle was being taken into custody at last, Mrs. Chung regained consciousness and was able to proceed with the decryption.
