VENICE BEACH

Venice Beach

After moving from his unique apartment in the Griffith Observatory, MacGyver's next home was an apartment on Ocean Front Walk in Venice Beach. The apartment was a third floor walk-up above "Coney Island USA," a small fast food stand serving such specialties as chicken nuggets, fish and chips, chili fries, and ice cream, in addition to coffee so strong it's guaranteed to melt lead.

The studio apartment, number 3B, had a perfect view overlooking the Pacific Ocean from the front balcony. With an open living and kitchen area that had a wood burning stove in the corner, the apartment had a bedroom alcove set off with vertical blinds, and an eclectic decorating style including a white sofa with an afghan of Native/Mexican design, a table hockey game in the living room, a guitar, a Tiffany-style lamp, a cactus, a telephone answering machine and cordless phone, and various gadgets, pieces of sporting equipment, and toys, such swords, hockey sticks, a goalie mask, a tennis racket, a baseball and glove, and a large, red, plastic spider. MacGyver also occasionally used a homemade security device that allowed a special overhead light at the front door to detect footprints on the treated doormat in order to ascertain if someone had attempted to enter the apartment while he was away.

Susan was MacGyver's landlady and building maintenance person for his Venice Beach apartment, as well as a visitor and a friend who enjoyed such activities with him as table hockey games and an experimental robot-prepared 21st century breakfast.

When MacGyver found himself a great new house down on the beach, he packed up his apartment on Venice Beach and prepared to move, however his next home, in the Larchmont neighborhood, was actually a couple of miles inland from the ocean.
