Richard returned to Germany this weekend to attend Comic Con Germany, a convention that was held at the Messe Stuttgart exhibition center in Stuttgart, Germany.

During the weekend, he took the opportunity to greet fans, pose for photos, sign autographs, and participate in a Meet & Greet session as well as two Question & Answer panels.

In addition, before the convention began, Richard took part in a brief interview, and he was coached to complete a "Schwäbisch Challenge," by speaking in a southern German dialect for a welcome video.

Before the convention began, Richard participated in a "Schwäbisch Challenge" on video. With a script in hand and a little coaching, Richard used the Schwäbisch dialect of southern Germany to comment on the unusually hot weather that Germany was experiencing during the convention weekend.

Der frühere Darsteller des Serienhelden MacGyver ist stolz auf das Vermächtnis seiner Figur.

„Viele machen mich dafür verantwortlich, dass sie Wissenschaftler geworden sind”, sagte Richard Dean Anderson (69) in Stuttgart. Mit naturwissenschaftlichem Wissen und Technikverstand gelang es dem Titelhelden der ab Mitte der 80er Jahre ausgestrahlten Serie, unlösbar erscheinende Probleme zu bewältigen. Anderson, dessen Figur Kultstatus erlangte, sagte weiter: „Es fällt mir schwer zu glauben, dass eine Fernsehsendung jemanden als Kind oder Jugendlichen motivieren kann, einen bestimmten Lebensweg zu verfolgen. Vor allem wenn dieser so viel Hingabe verlangt.” Unter den Fans seien viele Ärzte oder auch Physiker. Anderson, der für eine Comic-Messe an diesem Wochenende aus den USA nach Stuttgart gereist war, fühle sich bei derartigen Bekundungen von Fans dann aber auch ein bisschen gedemütigt: „Ich kenne die Wahrheit hinter den Kulissen”, erklärte Anderson lachend. Denn wie MacGyver mittels einer Büroklammer einen Sprengsatz entschärfen? „Unmöglich.”

MacGyver actor proud: Fans have become scientists

The former actor of the heroic series MacGyver is proud of the legacy of his character.

"Many blame me for becoming scientists," said Richard Dean Anderson, 69, in Stuttgart. With scientific knowledge and technical understanding, the title hero of the series broadcast from the mid-1980s succeeded in coping with seemingly unsolvable problems. Anderson, whose character achieved cult status, continued, "I find it hard to believe that a television program can motivate someone as a child or adolescent to pursue a particular path in life. Anderson, who traveled from the USA to Stuttgart for a comic book show this weekend, feels a bit humbled by such statements from fans: "I know the truth behind the scenes," Anderson laughingly explained.
