ONE ON ONE WITH JOHN TESH
January 28, 1992

John Tesh met with Richard in his Los Angeles home where they talked about his early career and his future now that MacGyver has ended. Richard shared the story of how he broke both arms as a kid in Minnesota and how he has never lost his love of fast and potentially dangerous sports, despite a number of injuries. He talked about how his bicycle trip as a teenager had influenced and altered his personality growing up, and he described his early work with the killer whales at Marineland of the Pacific. He also talked about the legacy of MacGyver and overcoming typecasting to be able to play increasingly dark characters. On the subject of marriage, he admitted that he is not yet ready for that step, though he longs for fatherhood one day.
