LINDA

Linda, the girlfriend of Michael Simmons, had conspired with him in his illegal activities selling technology to East Germany as well as his plot to swindle the East Germans and collect three quarters of a million dollars for himself. Linda was tasked with buying two one-way tickets to Rio, and she arranged to meet Simmons at the Brownstone Hotel in preparation to leave the country together.

MacGyver was searching for Simmons on behalf of the Phoenix Foundation and the federal government, and by breaking into Simmons' office he was able to discover Linda's connection to him as well as her contact information: 401 W. Beech Street, Los Angeles, phone number 555-7465.

Linda drove a fancy Mercedes with a cellular car phone, and MacGyver followed her from her apartment to the Brownstone Hotel. When she entered the hotel, MacGyver rewired her car phone to control the car's security system and onboard computer. Then, by dialing the car phone from a pay phone across the street, MacGyver triggered the door locks and prevented the car from starting.

When MacGyver instructed Linda to pick up the phone to deactivate the lock, he was able to take Simmons into custody, and he advised Linda to be on her way. She left Simmons behind without hesitation.
