JAYEM SERAN

Jayem Seran

Jayem Seran, night guard second class at the museum on P4M-328, was doing his rounds the night that SG-1 inadvertently interrupted a formal reception at the museum and were mistaken as rebels, becoming the unwitting captors in a hostage situation. Seran had always wanted to serve on the Council's Guard, but mistakes he had made as a kid had messed up his record. Instead, he had been a museum guard for ten years and was anxious to prove himself a hero. Overly eager and somewhat inept, Seran made radio contact with Quartus, the chief negotiator in charge of the operation, but when Quartus ordered him to stand down, he decided to act on his own.

Seran confronted Mitchell and Vala at gunpoint as they tried to gain access to the naquadah bomb artifact, then he left them to pursue other members of the team, only to be captured himself by Mitchell and Vala. Vala used his access card to open the display case, then activated the bomb to convince him to provide his access code. SG-1 used the naquadah power source to manually dial the gate, but the hostage situation ended in a standoff when SG-1 prepared to depart just as SWAT officers stormed the museum. Quartus was persuaded to allow the team to leave peacefully, but he ordered that the entire incident be covered up. The news would report that four rebels had attacked a private function with several key councilors in attendance, but the night guard had single-handedly foiled their plan, killing all four rebels and saving all of the hostages. Jayem Seran has become a hero after all.
