EVERMORE

Evermore

Evermore is a little old nothing town up in the high desert about 10 to 12 miles from Harry Jackson's cabin in Colorado.

Harry Jackson, MacGyver's maternal grandfather, had chosen to live in relative isolation in a small rustic cabin outside of Ouray, Colorado. He had been estranged from his grandson for many years, but after a mission to the Middle East made MacGyver a target of a contract assassin named Axminster, MacGyver felt that a long overdue visit with his grandfather would provide him with an opportunity to get away. However, Axminster and his team, including an associate named Black, traced MacGyver to Colorado, and both he and Harry became targets. As the assassins pursued them, MacGyver and Harry headed toward Evermore because it would have a phone line from which to call the authorities. However, it had been many years since Harry had last visited Evermore, and he hadn't realized that the town had long since been deserted.

MacGyver and Harry were forced to spend the night in one of the abandoned buildings of the town. Harry had been grazed by a bullet during one of the encounters with the assassins, and MacGyver treated Harry's wound with a natural antibiotic made from crushed pyrite and clay. Together they planned their strategy for a final confrontation with Axminster's men, and they were able to defeat the assassins by using the spontaneous combustion of grain dust, creating a decoy of exploding pine nuts to simulate gunfire, and collapsing a balcony to knock out Axminster. Although there was no phone service in Evermore, Axminster and his men would have been taken into custody as soon as MacGyver and Harry were able to reach the authorities.
