KYLE

Kyle worked with Amy Austin and Tim Wexler at the Westport Nuclear Processing Plant in Westport Beach, California. When Amy discovered that someone had been stealing 30 kilos of weapons-grade uranium, she became a target of the thief, and she called MacGyver for help. Tim and Kyle were on duty at the plant on a quiet Sunday afternoon, enjoying a friendly $5 wager on the baseball game, when Kyle noticed that the lights on the control panel were indicating that the nuclear waste disposal chamber had been unexpectedly activated. He alerted Tim to the situation, and Tim went to investigate, only to find that MacGyver and Amy had been trapped inside and would have died had MacGyver not managed to short-circuit the electronic time clock to release the lock.

Kyle was unaware that Police Chief Ed Train had been responsible for the theft and the attempt on Amy's life, and that Tim had been cooperating with him. In the control room, Train held Kyle at gunpoint, and when MacGyver, Amy, and Tim returned, he intended to kill any witnesses. Tim pleaded with Train to simply tie up their prisoners, but as Tim and Train struggled for the gun, several shots were fired. Tim was wounded in the abdomen, Kyle was wounded in the right shoulder, and the control console was damaged, putting the plant in danger of a meltdown.

As MacGyver and Amy attempted to apprehend Train and to prevent a meltdown, Tim and Kyle monitored the control panels. Tim acknowledged that it was "too late" for him, and he urged Kyle to leave the facility, perhaps giving him time to save himself. Reluctant at first, Kyle agreed and left the plant, but the crisis was averted when MacGyver and Amy successfully climbed to the top of the facility and manually cleared the blockage in the high pressure injection system, returning the facility to safe levels.
