PROSTRATION

The Ori draw their power from the worship of humans, and there is a real, physical transfer of energy to the Ori that occurs as massive numbers of humans relinquish their will. Throughout the countless worlds that have fallen to Ori domination, humans who have come to embrace Origin are required to participate in a period of worship and prayer called prostration. In Ori villages such as Ver Ager, the people often gather near the Ara at the center of the village. Usually led by an Administrator or a Prior, prostration is a public ceremony during which the people prostrate themselves and join in prayers, readings from the Book of Origin, and chants such as "Hallowed are the Ori." Prostration is a regular obligatory ritual and may last as many as six hours at a time.
