KA'LEL

Ka'lel

Ka'lel had been one of the Hak'tyl warriors who followed Ishta. As a Jaffa, she had once served Moloc, and she bears his tattoo. Ka'lel held a position of authority among the Hak'tyl, and Neith turned to her when she considered challenging Ishta for leadership. She accompanied Ishta to the SGC, bringing news that their base had been compromised, and when word arrived that Ishta's summit had been ambushed, Ka'lel demanded that a rescue mission be organized immediately.

Following the defeat of the Goa'uld at Dakara, Ka'lel rose to a position of prominence in the new Jaffa Nation, accepting a seat on the Jaffa High Council. On most issues, Ka'lel has been an advocate of caution and a supporter of Teal'c and Bra'tac. She risked going against Gerak by confiding to Teal'c that Ba'al had gone into hiding on Earth and that Gerak's Jaffa were seeking him there. She also stood with Teal'c and Bra'tac against Gerak's proposal to turn the Jaffa Nation to Origin. Teal'c and Bra'tac expected her support once again for their proposal to dissolve the Council and move the government toward democracy, however she instead presented a rebuttal against their position, pointing out that many regions did not yet recognize any rights for females and claiming that the Jaffa were not yet ready for the burden of democracy. In fact, she had been brainwashed by Ba'al, who intended to seize control of the High Council, and while under the influence she used a zat gun against fellow Council member Maz'rai, who became the next victim of Ba'al's brainwashing. Following Maz'rai's death, the note he left behind implicated Ka'lel, and by following her movements, Bra'tac was eventually led to Ba'al's stronghold where Teal'c had also been captured. With dedication, it was expected that the effects of the brainwashing will be overcome.
