NETU

Netu

Netu, the moon orbiting Sokar's home planet of Delmak, takes its name from the book of Am-Taut which describes the ancient Egyptian "other world" regions, usually as dark pits of fire, home to hellish monsters and the damned. It had once been an industrialized colony of Delmak until Sokar released toxins into the atmosphere and used explosions to release the molten core to transform the environment of Netu to match the description of Hell, a place of eternal suffering and damnation from which there is no return. Sokar housed his prisoners there, and before SG-1's arrival, only Jolinar was known to have escaped. Netu has no stargate and the atmosphere is too thick to land a ship, so prisoners arrive in descent pods. When Jacob/Selmak was captured by Sokar and imprisoned on Netu, Martouf and SG-1 launched a rescue mission. A Tok'ra weapon aimed at Netu's core caused a chain reaction which destroyed the moon, taking Sokar's orbiting ship with it.
