JI

Ji was an associate of Stone who acted in any capacity necessary including as bodyguard and enforcer. Stone, a criminal, thief, and swindler, had made the acquaintance of Paul Chan, a 14-year-old boy from Santa Monica, and had convinced him to portray the Wish Child, a legendary Chinese figure said to grant immortality. When Stone and Paul met in Chinatown with Dr. Shen Wei for a ceremony designed to prove that the Wish Child claim was legitimate, Ji was stationed at the door to prevent anyone from entering. This included MacGyver, who had arrived to pick up Paul after what he believed to be a birthday party. Ji would not let him pass, but he was easily distracted by MacGyver's remote controlled dragon contraption, and MacGyver sneaked by.

Inside, MacGyver witnessed the ceremony that made it clear that this was not a birthday party and that Paul was potentially in danger. Ji confronted MacGyver again and this time knocked him out and loaded him into a crate of firecrackers aboard the Auckland Trader bound for New Zealand. MacGyver was able to escape and draw Paul away from Stone, however Stone sent Ji and his associates Soong and Lin to find the boy.

Ji located Paul and MacGyver in an alley in Chinatown, and Paul willingly returned to Stone, assuring MacGyver that he was a friend. Ji drew his weapon, but MacGyver had constructed a grappling hook from an umbrella and a clothesline and managed to scale a wall to escape. Ji attempted to pursue, but MacGyver cut the rope, leaving Ji behind.
