EGYPT
The Goa'uld may have occupied Earth as much as 10,000 years ago. According to ancient legend, Ra's race was dying when he came to Earth and took a young Egyptian boy as a host, playing the role of the sun god and using the religion of the ancient Egyptians to enslave them. Ra established his power base on Earth near Giza in Egypt. There the Temple of Ra was built to honor him, the Great Pyramids, which predate the fourth dynasty, were constructed as landing pads for his motherships, and from there he kidnapped human slaves and seeded them among the stars. As other Goa'uld took human hosts, many, including Anubis, Apophis, Hathor, Heru'ur, Imhotep, Isis, Osiris, Sekhmet, Seth, and Sokar, established their power through the culture of ancient Egypt.
In 2995 BC, the Egyptians rebelled against their god, Ra was forced to abandon Earth, and the stargate was buried at Giza where it remained for 5000 years until it was discovered by Dr. Langford during an archaeological expedition in 1928, twenty-two years after an earlier German expedition had uncovered the DHD in 1906. Other archaeological discoveries of artifacts have also shed light on the history of the Goa'uld and ancient Egypt. A wall painting discovered by German archaeologists in 1885 was destroyed in a museum fire ten years later, but a reproduction of the painting survived in the rare 1889 publication of "The Eye of the Sun," and showed a figure holding a zero point module, referred to as "The Heart of Light," and worshipped as a religious icon. This discovery led SG-1 to travel back in time to retrieve the ZPM, which they concealed in a tomb of the first dynasty near Giza to be found 5000 years later by a team of archaeologists from the University of Chicago.
In 1931, the Stewart Expedition discovered an ancient temple near Cairo and recovered a number of artifacts, some dating as far back as 10,000 years, including two canopic jars designed as stasis chambers and containing the preserved symbiotes of Isis and Osiris, thus giving rise to the "Curse of Osiris." When the symbiote of Osiris escaped and took a new human host, a Goa'uld spaceship, long since buried in the sands of Egypt, provided a means of escape from Earth.
Archaeological discoveries in Egypt have also uncovered evidence of the presence of the races of the Ancient Alliance on Earth. More than 80 years ago, a stone key was found in a pharaoh's tomb in Egypt, wrapped in a scroll inscribed in the writing of the Furlings, which provided the means to access an alien utopia from P5X-777. Another archaeological dig in Egypt turned up an Ancient stone, used as a long-range communication device, which matched an identical device recovered from P3R-233. Current expeditions in Egypt continue to reveal clues about alien involvement in the history of Earth.
